Hi Al, This article on pulling and pushing out stagnant qi is indeed extremely interesting. Will it work for stagnant qi located in the lower legs/feet region or is there an alternative method to pull out qi stagnated in the lower toso? When standing to practise, I notice numbness in the lower feet region - sometimes the numbness is very intense. Sometimes the numbness is in both fee; sometimes in only one foot. Is this the qi stagnation you are referring to?

All three techniques are much less effective in the legs. Tracing and pulling are possible, though much more difficult, since you'd have to bend over to use the techniques. And locking, using joint rotation, should *never* be done on in the legs, due to the high probability of injury. As a matter of fact, we spend a lot of time in the course making sure there is very little or no rotation in the knees or ankles. So as you look through the Complete Course, you'll see that we tend to use other techniques for the legs. Many of these techniques focus on using the hip sockets and hip joints as a pump (both in the horizontal and in the vertical direction) to push out the stagnant chi out of the legs, or to use aligned movements of the knees. We also use certain a number of mental techniques . We also use some techniques that cross the physical/mental/energetic areas that work on getting stagnant chi in the legs to move. Just a few examples of in the course: Wag Head and Tail in Level 1, modified silk reeling in Level 2, Water Pump Qigong and the energetic work in Tai Chi Cloud Hands in Level 3. Assuming you have no disease or injury that might be causing it, the numbness in your feet *might* be stagnant chi, but more likely it's something else. If the numbness only happens when you are standing, and especially only happens when you are standing to practice, it's most likely a structural problem with your stance. You don't mention which stance you are using (Wuji, Horse, or Goat), but make sure you check the structural details in our course for each of the stances, and that you follow them meticulously. You'll often find that a slight adjustment (an inch or two, a few centimeters) in some part of your stance might make a big difference. And the adjustment might not be needed in the feet. It might be needed in the knee, the hip, the back, the front of the torso, or even the neck. Just check the details in the course and let them guide you.

Thanks Al for the quick and information reply. I'm only at Level 1. hence I'm referring to the Wuji stance. Will pay careful attention to the details you mentioned and will keep you informed once the problem is overcome.
